Tribeca Facts

Tribeca is an abbreviation for “Triangle Below Canal Street”.  The neighborhood is bounded by Canal, West, Broadway and Chambers streets.  It was originally residential transitioning into more of a mercantile area in the 19th century.  It was heavily impacted by the September 11th attack, and in its rehabilitation thereafter was favored by technology oriented tenants and start-ups, while many of the former industrial buildings have been converted to residential use – and over the years has been home to many famous people.  It is favored by the “entertainment” crowd.

Two major structures in the area:  32 Avenue of the Americas and 388 Greenwich Street cater mainly to telecom tenants and Citigroup respectively, but throughout this section of New York there are many small tenancies occupied by growing businesses, as well as larger ones occupied by established players.
